Responsible for the coordination of practicum student placements and public relations functions with approximately 250 human service organizations and families supporting individuals with disabling conditions and chronic health concerns. Instructs, supervises and evaluates practicum students in undergraduate courses over the Fall and Winter semesters. Developed and currently instructs CORE 475. Coordinates the annual student orientation and career/job fair.

Co-founded and currently co-directs a non-profit organization specializing in aging related issues. The key focus of Connecting Generations is on helping individuals, families and communities respond to matters important to seniors by providing flexible approaches to planning and action. The main objectives of the organization are to help older people stay in their own homes and communities as long as possible and to help them maintain relationships and assist them to develop networks, valued roles and activities.
Conducted program evaluations for Progressive Alternative Services, Alexandra Senior’s Health Clinic – Community Component and the Bethany Care Society/Trinity Foundation Wellness Nurse Position.
Calgary, Alberta (1991 – 2000)
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (1997-2000)
Responsible for the day-to-day management of a Supported Employment agency supporting 80 people with disabilities. Responsible for the overall management of over 60 staff members including manpower planning, recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation. Developed new policies and procedures, wrote funding proposals, and controlled an operating budget of over one million dollars. Worked closely with a Board of Directors, developed working committees, and initiated the building of a “Learning Organization” by including all stakeholders in the development of a shared vision, mission and strategic plan. Developed and implemented both internal and external evaluations on service quality. Assisted the organization in meeting the Creating Excellence Together Standards with Distinction. Coordinated all fundraising efforts. Handled the concerns of people using the service, their families and staff members with diplomacy and patience. Supervised a 16-month national research project on the need for a “Canadian Association of Supported Employment.” Participated in many committees throughout employment history.
RESOURCE COORDINATOR (1993-1997)
Responsible for managing a caseload of 20-30 people with disabilities in Supported Employment Services. Worked closely with people with disabilities and their families to address employment desires Completed individual funding proposals and coordinated annual funding reviews. Coordinated all direct services including intake, planning, hiring and supervision of staff.
EMPLOYMENT FACILITATOR (1991 – 1993)
Provided direct support to people with disabilities in the areas of career planning, job search, job placement & training.

HOUSE MANAGER (1992-1996)
Responsible for the management of a community living home for 3 individuals with disabilities. Worked closely with the individuals and their families to develop a positive home environment. Hired and trained staff members. Coordinated activities and schedules. Facilitated team meetings. Completed necessary paperwork and managed the finances for the home and for the individuals.
RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT WORKER (1991-1992)
Responsible for the direct support of people with significant developmental disabilities. Areas of support included personal care, communicating with families and community inclusion activities.
Community involvement/volunteer work, spending time with family and friends, listening to the stories of seniors, reading, volleyball, cross-country skiing, hiking, and golf.
