Image: Trilateral Consortium on Capacity Building in Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies (CCRDS)

ACTIVITIES

The Consortium in collaboration with a large number of community based agencies and private sector companies will develop web-based courses to be jointly offered, organize intensive short exchange course-based institutes, and long-term in-depth work experience exchanges. The project will support the development of community rehabilitation/disability studying capacity in Mexico, and pursue the development of flexible accreditation and professional credentialling practices in Canada and the US.

Knowledge of similarities and differences between countries in disability policies and practices.

Institutes / Short-term Exchange

•	Direct observation of similarities and differences between countries in disability policies and practices.
•	Exposure to cultural similarities and differences.
•	Learn of possibilities for future trans-cultural careers.

Semester Exchange, Practicum or Work Experience

•	In-depth knowledge of similarities and differences between countries in disability policies and practices.
•	In-depth understanding of cultural differences.
•	Development of trans-cultural career experience.
•	Contribution to local disability service.
•	Development of local capacity in human services.

Also, an anticipated outcome of the practice-based exchanges is that program and administrative leadership skills will be developed not only amongst participating students but also by personnel in NGOs, small businesses and other organizations.
